In 2011 Google Russia was trying to get the public to test the accuracy of the accommodation advertising when planning a trip to use street view. With a little help from Agency BBDO Moscow, they were able to create these visually stunning ads to create awareness towards picking your destination carefully. With the tagline “Know Before You Go” you can definitely already get a feel towards what this ad is all about. In the top left hand corner you’re able to read a short description as to what the accommodation is supposed to be and what it looks like, nothing like what you are viewing. The scene depicts this “Hotel la Famille” in between a strip club and sex store showing you what street view could of saved you from. There is something special about the vibrant colour of the sex store and run the down colour from the building itself that really pulls you into the picture and to visually scan every bit to find out the detailing of the scene. The composition of this piece works perfectly for what they’re going for, an ad that truly reflects the power of what street view can really do. Just hope for your sake you don’t get caught like the two in the ad.
